Starting

Wether you are starting Judo or Karate all you will need for your first few classes all you need is yourself, and some loose clothing.

Equipment

The sooner you can purchase your first Judo or Karate suit the better, asscociation/club suits are available through your club instructor. Loose clothing or a tracksuit may be worn for the first two or three training sessions.

Events & Courses

Once you or your child has completed two or three months training they will be able to take part in the various courses and events offered by our club.

Grading

All students will be elligible to take grading’s once they have completed the minimum number of hours. Grading’s are held 2-3 times a year.

When your child is successful they will be entitled to a coloured belt and will move onto more advanced techniques, thereby ensuring that their learning process is continuous. Under this system of grading, even very young children can see their progress without having to take severe exams! And as every Parent knows nothing succeeds like success!

 

Judo Courses & Events

Mixed Judo League - There are usually three Judo leagues a year, and are usually held around the middle of each term. The Judo leagues are a fun day giving the students the opportunity to develop their contest Judo in a friendly environment.

Championships - During the year there are a number of Championships, at both regional and National levels

IBC Easter Course - Every year during the Easter holidays, the IBC hold its annual residential course. This is a unique opportunity for students to develop their knowledge, and try out different Martial Arts. The course instructors include Sensei Martin Pederson 8th Dan Kyoshi Judo, Sensei Pierre Citti 7th Dan Aikido, Sensei Daniel Vanderlinden 7th Dan Karate, and other guest instructors.

Brussels - During the half term October break students are invited by Sensei Citti to visit his Dojo in Brussels. Aikido and Judo are both on the agenda, Aikido is taught under the direction of Sensei Citti. The Judo part of the course is usually taught by Sensei Pedersen.

Speciality Courses - In addition to the above courses there area number of speciality courses held during the year. These include Aikido courses, Instructors courses, Judo Kata Courses, refereeing courses etc.

Karate Courses & Events

During the year there are a number of events and courses run by the UKSKO, from tournaments to week long courses, details of which will be available from your club intsructor.
